Comfy outfits for travel days

Whether you're flying in the front of the plane, stuck in the last row of economy or somewhere in between, a comfortable travel outfit is super important to plan. You won't want to be stuck in something too tight or not warm enough on a cold plane.

Outfit 1's casual comfort doesn't sacrifice looking put together.

1. The Athleta Sojourn top is one of my favorites since it's UV-blocking and has a giant kangaroo pocket on the front. I like to keep my important items (like my phone and passport) in there so it's easy to grab but kept close while I'm at the airport. The back has a beautiful pleated detail that dresses up this piece. I also like that the back is longer, so I can wear leggings under it and have my butt covered.

It's no longer available directly from Athleta, but it can be found on resale sites like Poshmark. The Poplin Pullover is an alternative that's similar as well.

2. Athleta's Brooklyn Heights Joggers are my go-to travel pant, for personal and work travel. They're so comfortable and lightweight. They dry very quickly, which is nice in case you spill a drink on yourself (guilty) or do laundry while traveling. The pockets are also helpful in case a need my hands, and the reason they win over wearing leggings! Due to the pockets on the back, they can also pass as work pants. (More lounge-y but cheaper option)

3. Adidas NMD sneakers have been my favorite for a long time. They are a good looking shoe but are also very supportive with their Ultraboost sole. These are great for long airport walks from gate to gate, and my #1 travel gym shoe (since I can do both running and weightlifting in them).

Outfit 2 lends to cozy comfort on a plane.

There's nothing wrong with wearing athleisure on a travel day since the fabrics move with you; perfect for when you're trying to contort into a good sleeping position in economy.

4. Lululemon's Scuba Half-Zip hoodie is so cozy but looks great with leggings. The pocket on the front lets me keep my essentials close, and the half zip allows me to ventilate if I get too hot. I can also use the sleeve's thumb holes to keep my hands warm if the plane is too cold. There's nothing I love more than changing into this hoodie to fly home after a work trip. (Budget-friendly alternative)

5. Lululemon Wunder Under leggings are a staple athleisure piece for girls everywhere. If I'm traveling to my destination in these, I can re-wear them for a gym session. Or, I can wear them on days with lots of sightseeing and walking. Like a true millennial, I live in leggings and these are a total comfort item when I travel. I prefer the Wunder Unders made out of Luxtreme since the material holds up incredibly well to pilling. (Get the look for less)

6. The YSL Medium Matelasse Tri-quilt Envelope bag goes with any 3 of these outfits and can elevate any look. I love the black hardware and logo since it's a bit more subtle. The chain strap can be worn on your shoulder or as a crossbody for more security. It has a generous carrying capacity, which is much-needed to carry my essentials on travel days or sightseeing in the city. (Similar look for less, crossbody style)

I place this bag in my larger personal item to protect it from the airplane floor!

Outfit 3: My tried and true business trip uniform

7. Aday's Up in the Air Jacket has proven itself on vacation trips as well as work ones. It looks dressy and can be worn to business dinners, but is versatile enough to wear with and elevate casual clothes. The scuba-like material is soft but temperature regulating; perfect for airplanes. The zip pockets give me peace of mind for keeping my phone and other important items in. (Budget-friendly alternative with a similar look)

8. Lululemon's On the Fly pant are just structured enough to pass at an office, but the material feels like sweatpants. I'm short, so I very much appreciate the 7/8 length, which are regular pants on me. These also have pockets, which are so necessary for travel! (CRZ Yoga budget-friendly alternative)

9. Rothy's Point in Inverse Stripe is a versatile flat, given all of the colors and fun pattern. Out of my many pairs of Rothys, these are my most worn and travelled with since they match with almost everything. I wouldn't walk long distances in them, but they are great for dinners and going to the office. The biggest win for me is that I can throw them in the washing machine between wears or trips! (Different color, budget-friendly alternative.)
