Fuji Speedway Hotel - Grand Prix Corner Suite review

The Fuji Speedway Hotel is so amazing, that I went back for a second visit in Fall, 2025. This time, I was lucky enough to get an upgrade to the Grand Prix Corner Suite.

Revisiting the Fuji Speedway Hotel one year later, the service remains unmatched with the property itself in stellar condition. Visit my prior review for a write-up of that stay and to read more about the hotel's tasteful car theme.

Thanks to lots of work travel in 2025, I had enough Hyatt points to book a night at the Fuji Speedway Hotel. However, after the Amex Platinum's refresh, I still needed to use my new $300 bi-yearly Fine Hotel and Resorts credit. After last year's visit, I knew I wanted to stay at least 2 nights this time around, from Nov 12-14 so here was my strategy:

For the first night of my trip, I booked through Hyatt's website to use my points. I had a Guest of Honor certificate available, so I applied that to my stay and redeemed 21,000 Hyatt points to book a Standard room.

Nightly rates have increased since I visited

The Guest of Honor certificate boosted me up to Globalist Status (Hyatt's highest tier) for this visit. Globalist status extended these benefits for my stay:

  • Free breakfast (there's no lounge at this property)
  • Room upgrade (subject to availability)
  • Late checkout
  • Bottled water

For the second night of my trip, I booked the same room type through American Express's Fine Hotel and Resorts collection to use the second half of my Amex Platinum's $300 bi-yearly hotel credit. By booking through this collection, I was given these perks:

  • Breakfast for 2 at Trofeo
  • A $100 USD property "experience" credit
  • Late checkout
  • Room upgrade, (subject to availability)

Since I was booked under 2 separate reservations, I emailed the property and let them know I had 2 different confirmation numbers while requesting to stay in the same room if possible. Understandably, they said there was no guarantee but I did what I could!

The Fuji Speedway Hotel is (rightfully) part of Hyatt's Unbound Collection, and my non-points stay earned me progress towards World of Hyatt status.

For our last visit, we rented a car and drove 2 hours from Tokyo to the Fuji Speedway Hotel. This time, we took a shinkansen from Tokyo Station to Mishima Station in Shizuoka (a little under 1 hour). We then rented a car near Mishima Station (2 min walk) and drove 30 mins to the hotel. This was a little quicker and a lot less stressful than the last visit.

The car rental cost for our little Toyota Aqua was just under $200 USD for 2.5 days, including everything I paid for tolls (be sure to ask for the ETC card when making your rental reservation). Parking was still free at the Fuji Speedway Hotel garage, but they had passes to display in your windshield; a change from my last visit.

Visitors can also get to the hotel via train to Gotemba station (e.g. on the Gotemba line), where the Fuji Speedway Hotel provides a complimentary shuttle to/from the hotel. Reservations are still required, so inquire with the property once you have your booking in place.

The entry hall to the hotel was just as amazing as I remembered, with the car museum on display.

Entrance to Fuji Speedway Hotel

We arrived to the hotel at about 1pm, and much to my delight, Kazu-san, the Fuji Speedway's manager remembered me and my husband from our last visit! He looked up our reservation, recognized the Globalist status, and guided us to a sitting area with sparkling wine. He was pleased to share that we would be upgraded this time around to the Grand Prix Corner Suite with a circuit view for both nights of our stay. Kazu-san also confirmed my Lexus LC 500 rental for the track driving experience, and my Robata dinner reservation the following day.

I was already happy with the size and amenities of the standard Fuji Speedway Hotel room from our last visit, but the corner suite raised the bar even further for amazing hotel experiences. This suite was complete with a living room, bedroom, full bathroom, walk-in closet, half bathroom, and expansive balcony for an unmatched circuit viewing experience.

The bedroom was situated on the corner, and had great dual views of both the mountains and circuit. Like the standard room, there was a wet bar area with bottled Ito En spring water and teas (+snacks/drinks for purchase). The bottled water was replenished regularly throughout the day.

Balcony, walk-in closet, bathroom

The black Fuji Speedway Hotel canvas bag souvenir was still a gift in the closet, as well as the yukata, loungewear, and slippers available for use around the resort. Mikimoto cosmetics samples were also in the bathroom drawer.

Our Fuji Speedway Hotel visit was well timed, since it was the weekend before a Super Taikyu final event, so the cars and their drivers started to show up on Thursday (the second day of our visit) to practice on the track. This allowed for great balcony spectating time!

Dinner: Robata Oyama

We went Robata Oyama (onsite restaurant) for dinner on the second night of our stay (I didn't feel like pizza from Trofeo) to use my $100 Amex FHR Experience credit (about 15,000 JPY at the time). Reservations are recommended; I made mine online when I made my initial hotel booking.

Robata had a commemorative set menu to celebrate the hotel's anniversary, so my husband and I ordered that. We were also surprised with a "happy anniversary" dessert (I had mentioned this trip was to celebrate when making the reservation).

Breakfast: Trofeo

We enjoyed the breakfast buffet at Trofeo twice, since it was included through both my Guest of Honor cert and by booking through Amex's Fine Hotels & Resorts collection. The made-to-order items were still the same, featuring items like avocado toast and omurice/eggs benedict.

Self-serve items like bread, miso soup, udon, and rice were in the buffet area.

The gorgeous Mount Fuji views were just as breathtaking as last time.

I had a fabulous second visit at the Fuji Speedway Hotel. With all of the amenities (spa, onsen, luxury gym) and proximity to the Gotemba Premium Outlets, I'm tempted to make a yearly visit to this property.

The Fuji Speedway Hotel is undoubtedly one of my favorite hotels in the world. It offers amazing spaces for relaxation and motorsports fun as well.
